Budget Fashion!

FabHey Socialites! One of the biggest questions I get when it comes to styling for someone, or helping them pick out an outfit is “How much is the whole outfit?”. It’s true, many often ask that question in hopes of not getting that sticker shock that sends your eyes twitching like a mad lady! But alas, as Socialites, we know we can budget fashion and still look fab! My challenge total was $100 and here is just one of many options I came up with.

So first, I decided to get a hold of a little black dress! They can take you so many places in the vast world of versatility! This one is by Dorothy Perkins (purchase here) and it’s skater style will have you right on trend for this fall. And it runs $29, but for your first purchase you get 15% off. Of course, as I think with any little black dress, an amazing bag should be well in tow. This one is from H&M (purchase here) and it has a gorgeous cognac color that is well worth the $25. I love flats in the fall! They pair well with opaque tights and these babies from Old Navy are just perfect with the dress(purchase here)! Did I mention they’re only $21.55 and they occasionally run coupon codes on their website?! The other thing I’m into right now are hats, especially brimmed ones! This one is by Forever21 (purchase here) and ran us $16.80. Worth it for the coming cool winter days. Also from Forever21 we snagged these earrings and this lovely, geo print scarf. The earrings are $3.80 (purchase here) and the scarf is $9.80 (purchase here), rounding out our total to $2 over.

So mavens of the fashion world, you can look amazing when you do budget fashion and still look like a million bucks! And best of all, these pieces may very well be in your own closet, so get diggin and save those pennies!

Until next time…happy findings!

Socialite Style

1

Hey Socialites! This one is for you! Well every Fashion Find is for you, but… this one is dedicated to Sophistication. You see in times past (and I mean way before Paris Hilton), socialites were classy, elegant and trendy all at the same time. Well, here’s how you can capture some of that history and still be a knock-out in your own era with socialite style.

First, I found this over the top exaggerated wide leg, courtesy of Zara (purchase here). The Katherine Hepburn esque feel of the pants really gives an ode to a classic look. Wide Legs have made a huge comeback and when paired with a cute pair of booties, you can make a definite fashion statement. I opted for these by 2B Stores (purchase here). This year, it’s all about layering and we captured this trend by not only adding a leather jacket, like this one from Forever21 (purchase here), but by also adding a chic faux shearling vest  by Aeropostale (purchase here). Simply add the vest on top of the jacket, and you’ve got yourself a new cover piece. Oh…and don’t forget a cute scarf. We added this one by Vince Camuto to bring in warmth (purchase here). No classy lady should go without a classy watch and earrings. This watch by Nixon has us swooning (purchase here) and the earrings from ASOS are no different (purchase here)! And of course, you need a bag. Patent Leather is making a come back, so we decided to go with this one from Wallis Fashion (purchase here).

Alright Socialites, like Justin brought Sexy Back, lets bring classy sophistication back to to socialite style. Of course, on a budget! Until then…Happy Findings!

Casual Piece

BoomHey Socialites! My newest obsession is dressing up casual pieces, like tees and sneakers. There’s something about a Fashionista that screams FABULOUS when she can work a graphic shirt and a bodycon skirt. Here’s some of our fave new pieces that can help you accomplish that look and speak volumes!

Ok, so let’s start off with *takes deep breath* this AMAZINGLY, SENSATIONAL, casual piece, courtesy of Designer, Phillip Lim’s collaboration with Target (purchase here or at your local Target). It says so much… while saying so much! Of course, a great way to make a “Pop” piece stand on its own, is to pair it with an understated garment. Hence, why we chose to go with a simple bodycon skirt, like this one by Dorothy Perkins (purchase here). We also love the idea of dressing up a casual piece with a little blingery, so we opted for a statement necklace, like this one from Oasis Stores (purchase here), and added a little bit of simplicity with these Givenchy pearl earrings (purchase here). Who doesn’t love a good clutch? This Michael Kors, studded number (purchase here), brings that edge and makes an impact, especially when paired with these hot shades from Amazon.com (purchase here). And we can’t forget about the shoes. Sure it’s easy to pair this outfit with a pair of pumps or a bootie, but why not swap it out for a sneaker wedge. Sneaker wedges are not slowing down in fashion, so you might as well jump in with both feet, whatever your size is. These are from Urban Outfitters (and they’re only $22.49 annnnnnnnnnnnd they come in all different colors) (purchase here).

So loves, play up those casual pieces and make a statement that speaks for itself! Happy Findings!

Fashion Find: Faux Leather

FauxHey Socialites! For the past few weeks, I have been anxiously awaiting the Fall season so that I can pull out my blazers and start pairing them with some of my newest fave trends for the season. Faux Leather (or Vegan styles, as some like to call it) are all the rage for Fall 2013! But then again, this is one trend that gets better with each year, in my opinion! Check out some of these awesome Faux leather finds that are available online and near you.

Ok, so first we start off with this ahhhhh-mazing midi skirt from Miss Selfridge (purchase here). You can never go wrong with a midi because you can easily transition them from season to season. Next, I found this gorgeous Faux leather crop top with bead detailing from Nordstrom (purchase here). Now, a little tip, in case you’re wondering “Did she just throw ANOTHER Faux leather piece in this outfit?”. I know… faux leather can look luxe, can be dressed up or down and, yes, can easily become overkill if too many “like” textures are put together. However, little tip: a way to break it up is to add another piece in a different color, hence the top. Which also brings me to the blazer. Adding a pop of color in a different material as another “focal” piece will help attract the eye to the overall look. This one is from Forever21 (purchase here). As you all may have noticed, I am a fan of Zara, so I had to add in these KILLER, MAJOR GLAMAGE, shoes to kick it up a notch (purchase here)! You also can never go wrong with a set of pearl earrings. Here’s a slight spin on a classic, courtesy ASOS (purchase here). Of course, now that it is Fall, I wanted to add an element of “unique chic”, by throwing in this wider brimmed fedora from Miss Selfridge (purchase here). And no Fashion Maven is complete without a gorgeous bag, like this one from River Island (purchase here).

The Wrap Up: Don’t be afraid to experiment with Vegan pieces and add a little element of some of the amazing finds in your very own closet. Happy Findings!

Sneaker Wedges are another great way to add a causal edge for this Fall Season. Which would you opt for?

Fall Essential Skirt

OneHey Socialites! Once again, we’re here with a new fashion find, and from Target, no less! (purchase similar here) We are head over heels with the amazing styles they have coming in this season. Check out this fall essential skirt we found! The beauty of a skirt is you can easily take it from Day to Night in a matter of added pieces and accessories. Check out two possibilities that will easily transform your inner Business Beauty, to Night Owl Trendsetter!

In the first look, we decided to make it all about the office. You can definitely show your trendy side with this neutral-colored collar blouse from Uniqlo (purchase here), which gives a nice “tuxedo” feel. Staying with the neutral colors, we added a sexy pair of nude platforms from Gojane.com (purchase here) which gives you that height factor. Add a gorgeous, H&M bag (purchase here) and a watch from Delias (purchase here) to bring it together. And of course we mus-ant forget jewels, like this cocktail ring by Trina Turk (purchase here) and this link necklace  from Topshop (purchase here).

Now, to take it to evening, we opted for a tee with a cut-out shoulder, like this one from Zara (purchase here). And because cut-outs are all the rage, we carried over that theme in the shoes, like the Vivienne cutout bootie from Shoedazzle (purchase here). Every evening outfit should have a bit of edge; which is why we added this open front cardi with faux leather detailing from Topshop (purchase similar here). Throw in a clutch from Mango Shops (purchase black version here) and a rockin necklace from Boohoo (purchase here) and you will be the Style Watch of the evening!

So loves, if you want to paint the town red after work, run out to your local Target and grab this awesome fall essential skirt!

Fashion Find: Shopping Clearance

BS5Hey Socialites! Today is a confessional about a recent Target raid. *sigh* It was a rainy day last week in my hometown and I “happened” to stumble into my local Target store to wait until the rain let up. Then… I did it…I ended up shopping clearance in the women’s section. It was as though the finds were waiting for me. So of course, with no self-control whatsoever, I couldn’t resist the price tags, and figured I’d share my finds with you! Keep in mind the links that will be provided are not the same as in store, so start your engines!

First lets start off with these amazing, stand-out belted tapered pants (purchase here or in store). The fit is amazing and sizes range from 2-16. These are great because they are so versatile. They can be dressed up, or dressed down. I paid (get ready) $8.38. Steal right! I decided to do a dressy/casual look by adding this denim button up I found a few racks away (purchase here or in store) for $8.98. With price tags like these, you can definitely splurge a little! Enter these heel-ess shoes by Jeffrey Campbell (purchase here if you dare), which add an element of boldness to the look (you can also opt for a simple pair of pumps). Also paired with the look is this sleek chain necklace from Asos.com (or opt for this one). What’s a socialite without her bag? This one is from Zara (no longer available, but try this one.) Don’t forget to spice it up with makeup (MAC shade: Candy Yum-Yum and Sally Hensen Nail Decals).

So Fashionistas, get started on shopping clearance! Your wallet will thank you for saving your precious dollars for a rainy day at Target. Until then…happy findings!

Fashion Find: Target Store Style Sense!

TBSHey Socialites! Ever gone into a Target store and asked yourself, “Why did I come in here for bread and walk out with 5 new dresses?”…No??? Is it just me or has Target stores proven to be the “Everything” store that is not worth sleeping on?! Walking through the clothing section for me is like walking through the closets at V Magazine! It is a fashion gold mine! Check out this dress I found! Not only is it sleek and stylish, it’s $25 (purchase here or at your local Target Store), comes in regular and plus size and is full of life and endless fashion possibilities!

Target

Keeping it simple with accessories is the choice of the week. First, I decided to pair it with a cute bead embellished thong sandal from Nine West, to play on the peachy orange color and to add character. Then I chose to bag it up with the awesome shopper from Asos, which gives the outfit a grown up, casual feel. And this “Moroccan” style necklace , courtesy of Banana Republic, is light but packs a style punch with its blue and pink splashes.

So Mavens, you can target your style sense right at your local Target Store and all you need are a couple of pairings to do so.

Fashion Find:Fall Neutrals

Fall-ing for Neutrals! Getting a head start on this Fall Season!Neutrals Fall-ing for Neutrals! Getting a head start on this Fall Season!

Hey Socialites! Want a great tip for saving money on the hottest fashion finds? Shop during the off season. One of the funny things I’m known for is shopping in the Summer for Fall season clothing. It’s a great way to save money and is glorious for creating your own trends. Which brings me to this week’s Fashion Find. As I perused some of my fave Etsy shops, I stumbled on this awesome vintage Fall neutral sweater dress. With it’s fringe details (a big trend for 2013) and intricate splashes of color detail in the weaving, it makes for a great edition to your Fall wardrobe and for a whopping $28 (purchase here), it is money well spent!

DressFor this dress, I decided to keep it neutral. “Why?” you may ask? Well the great thing about nude and neutral tones is that they are season-less. You can transition them to work all year round. And when I saw these tres chic pumps from Zara (On Sale NOW for $40! purchase here.) it was love at first sashay. Moving to the Asos earrings (purchase here), they provide a classic Jackie O look and feel to the ensemble, while this BCBG belt (purchase here) brings in a bit of hardware to the mix by with its over-sized stud detail. Now for the best part…can we talk about this bag? OMG!!!! Topshop knocked it out of the park when I set eyes on this gorgeous piece of arm art(purchase here)! Talk about making a statement.

So Mavens, if you love the wonderful wow factor that pops of color brings, try not to forget the POW effect Fall Neutrals can bring to a wardrobe as well. Until Next time…Happy Findings!

How do you rock Fall Neutrals in your wardrobe?

Fashion Find: Summer Romper

SummerSummer, Summer, Summer Time! This weather makes for a great opportunity to shop for the perfect Summer Romper! Enter this amazing stand out piece of fashion history. This gorgeously floral Summer romper comes in at $50, but for a quality piece that no one else is going to own, she is definitely worth it!

Character Galore

The first thing I noticed about this Summer romper is the amount of character it has. And strangely enough I hear Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” playing in the back of my mind when I see it…but in a good way! That’s why we chose to pair it with a cute pair of nude color sunglasses from Asos as an ode to the song writing genius. Again, because the Summer romper has so much character, light accessories that are not over done is key, so a simple Navy sandal from UK based store, Pull and Bear and then topped with a  cute nude bag from one of my fave shops, Zara  completes the look. These uber chic earrings from Nordstrom , are a casual sophistication as well, which adds character in a subtle way, while providing a polished look along with this Anne Klein Watch.Summer1

A Summer romper can be worn so many different ways! Dressed up, dressed down, but it looks even better when you’re enjoying those summer nights. So Socialites, get out there and enjoy Summer! Until Next Time…Happy Findings!!!

How would you accessorize your Summer Romper? Let us know in the comments.

Fashion Find: Floral Dress

T&THey Socialites! Floral dresses are my FAVE when it comes to warmer weather. You couldn’t find a happier print to wear when sauntering the runways of the Fashionista imagination. Ok, maybe I’m a bit dramatic, but you will agree with me when you take a glance at this recent Vintage Fashion Find. This stunning blue floral dress comes in at a whopping $25 (no joke! click here for purchase). And honestly, all I could think of was adding textures and tones to accentuate the ultimate peak of style and flare for this awesome dress.Etsy

I decided to add texture all around by using neutrals in my accessories. Since the dress has a summery feel to it, I thought this ultra chic straw bag from the Gap would be the perfect fit (click here for purchase). Playing off of the bag, I had a BCBG overload when I laid eyes on this cocktail ring (purchase here) and Belt (purchase here), which adds a flow and ease to the outfit, while making a subtle statement. Again, texture can be in your jewelry, as well, like this tassel necklace from BL Boutique (purchase here). And for the “Pièce de résistance”…we offset the subtle and bring in the POW factor of a rich and bold tone. Reds have always, in my book, gone EXCELLENT with blues. That’s why we chose this cutesy Red bow sandal by Paris Hilton (purchase here), because it brings an element of surprise to the table, while delivering a sexiness that will have you feeling like the supermodel you are.

Moral of the story: Florals are a girls best friend, but textures and tones can bring life to your personal style. Happy Findings!

Vintage Clothing: Take your finds to the next level!

So, I’m not sure if you realized it, but although I have a love for modern pieces, I LOVE Vintage finds! I mean come on, in times past, things were made to last and my take is “why not modernize it?”. Trends constantly repeat themselves, so “Going Vintage” is not a new concept. However, sometimes it can be hard melding the past with the present. Here are a couple of tips I like to go by when it comes to modernizing my favorite vintage fashion finds.

  1. Use your imagination. When shopping for Vintage clothing, a little imagination goes along way. A dress may look like your great Nan’s house coat. However, adding a cute cardi and a skinny belt can instantly transform that same dress into a fashion hit straight out of an episode of Mad Men.photo (2)
  2. Have an “Alter” Ego.  Depending on the era of your vintage clothing, some pieces may need what I like to call, “Jujing”. You know, a little work to bring it to its full potential. If that’s the case, don’t be afraid to make alterations. Pay your local tailor a visit and remember dresses and skirts can be shortened and sleeves can easily be removed.
  3. Avoid the gimmicks. I love a great Mod dress, but buying a pair of white patent leather knee length “Go-Go” boots and adding Huge Twiggy sunglasses can be a bit much. Remember if you rock an era, it’s all about pairing and modernizing. Instead, try opting for a pair of pumps and a simple skinny gold bangle. We want Austin Scarlett, not Austin Powers.

So you see Socialites, Vintage Clothing can be fun and rewarding. And if you ever feel a bit skeptical, remember these three rules.

Happy findings; then tell us all about it!
